Oscar: I'll persuade Neymar to join Chelsea

Chelsea's new Brazilian midfielder Oscar has revealed he is eager to see his international colleague Neymar follow him and make a move to west London.

The pair are currently on Olympic duty for their country, where they have progressed to the semi-finals, and Santos star Neymar has impressed.

He has been linked with a move to Europe for several years, and Oscar has revealed he will be doing all he can to ensure when that move comes, he will be coming to Stamford Bridge.

"While we are in London, I have been telling Neymar about the ambition of Chelsea," he told The People. "When the time comes for him to join a European club, I hope I can persuade him."

Oscar joined Roberto Di Matteo's side for £25 million before the Olympic tournament began, and he admits that after hearing of the Blues’ interest he had little hesitation in deciding to move to England.

He added: "When my agent told me that Chelsea were interested it was not something I even needed to think about.

"They are the champions of Europe, but they are still showing so much ambition by improving the squad. "To win the European Cup and still sign guys like myself and Eden Hazard shows you the ambition the owner and manager have.

"With the squad we have I will be looking at winning the Premier League title and also the Champions League.

"I know it is very difficult to win [the Champions League] twice in a row and even Barcelona could not do it, but with what Chelsea have in place it is very possible." However before he gets his Chelsea career underway, the former Internacional man hopes to win Olympic gold for Brazil.

"The Brazilian Football Confederation have told us that they don't expect anything less than gold - and that is what we are going to deliver," he added. "To win an Olympic gold would be very special for me."

Oscar's Chelsea move 'very advanced'

Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has confirmed playmaker Oscar's potential move to Chelsea is in a "very advanced" stage.

Oscar, 20, is currently in England with Brazil's Olympic team preparing for the London 2012 Games.

The midfielder has been linked to a £25 million move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer, and late last week confirmed he has already undergone a medical.

Reports in Oscar's homeland claim a deal will be finalised this Friday, and Internacional's chief confirmed the transfer is on the verge of completion, with just one hurdle still to be overcome.

"The situation is very advanced, but not finalised yet," Luigi told Terra.

"Oscar has to get his work permit. He needs to have a certain amount of caps to play in England, but I don't believe that will be a problem."

Luigi did not confirm the £25 million price tag but did admit Oscar's former club Sao Paulo would receive a percentage of the transfer fee. "I won't confirm the value, but I can guarantee it wasn't in pounds.

No cross-border negotiation is made in pounds - it's either Euros or dollars," Luigi said.

"I have also reached an agreement with Sao Paulo over their part. It's Chelsea that will pay that, not Internacional."

Oscar and his Brazil team-mates will open their Olympic campaign in Cardiff on Thursday evening when they take on Egypt.

Oscar to Chelsea almost complete

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Internacional midfielder Oscar, according to the Brazilian club's president Giovanni Luigi.

Highly rated playmaker Oscar is in England on Olympic duty with Brazil and was a standout performer in their 2-0 warm-up victory over Great Britain on Friday.

Oscar claimed on Friday he had undergone a medical at Chelsea but will delay a decision on his future until after the conclusion of the Olympic Games.

However, it now appears confirmation of a switch is imminent, with Luigi claiming a verbal agreement has been finalised between the two clubs.

"There is a verbal agreement between the two parties.

But we have to put that on paper and the lawyers of both clubs have to discuss the matter," he told Radio Guiaba.

Oscar joined Internacional from Sao Paulo in 2009, and scored a hat-trick in Brazil's Under-20 World Cup final victory over Portugal.

Chelsea's English Premier League rivals Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the youngster as a potential replacement for midfielder Luka Modric, who is reportedly on the verge of a move to La Liga champions Real Madrid.
