Arsenal Lead Chase to Sign Real Madrid Forward

Arsenal are leading the chase to sign Real Madrid’s highly-rated star Joselu.

Joselu, 22, has been earning rave reviews for Real Madrid B and has been the top goalcorer in recent seasons but has failed to make his breakthrough into the first-team.

Jose Mourinho seems unlikely to give him his chance at the Bernabeu and reports in Spain suggest he could be set for a move during the summer.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the former Spain Under-21 forward who would relish the chance to play in the Premier League.

Though Joselu has struggled to gain a foothold in Real Madrid’s first team picture there is no denying the obvious potential the Spanish Under 21 international possesses.

Over the past two seasons the German born youngster has netted 40 goals for Real Madrid’s B team and has in fact scored in the only two matches Jose Mourinho has selected him for first team action.

Arsene Wenger is one of many managers said to be keen on the powerfully built forward and Joselu would seemingly be ready to leave the Bernabeu in order to continue his career progression in preference to stagnating in Real Madrid’s B squad.

Wenger has seen his main striking contingent, Robin Van Persie aside, fail to make an impact with the likes of Marouane Chamakh, Gervinho and Park Chu-Young not offering much in the way of a consistent goal return and therefore despite the arrival of Lukas Podolki there would appear to still be a real need to beef up the Gunners’ attacking options.
