Manchester City have been fired a warning shot by Athletic Bilbao over Fernando Llorente.
Bilbao insisted they will not be willing to let their prized marksman go for anything less than his release clause - a whopping £30million.
Llorente has been linked with a number of clubs as well as City after an impressive season, despite signing a new long-term contract.
His current deal has a buyout clause of £29million, and Bilbao have reiterated their unwillingness to budge on a fee which may price him out of the market.
'He is a key player and we would not accept less, the supporters would not accept this,' said Bilbao president Josu Urrutia.
Llorente, who is part of Vicente Del Bosque's Euro 2012 Spain squad, also cooled talks of a potential move.
'Now I am only focused on the national side, my situation with Athletic has not changed,' Llorente said.
Llorente, who scored 24 goals last season and has yet to feature in Spain's Euro campaign, could replace Edin Dzeko, should the striker leave the Etihad.
